Which Side of Clutch Pack Faces Flywheel

Which Side of Clutch Pack Faces Flywheel:

In a tad of exuberance, I pulled the clutch pack away from the (old) flywheel without carefully noting and/or marking which side faced the pressure plate.  Can anyone look at each of the attached two pictures and tell me DEFINITIVELY, which side should face the flywheel and/or the pressure plate.

First picture  looks a little redder or rusty in the middle.

Fly 1, SMALL

Second picture looks a little blacker in the middle.

Fly2, SMALL

Many Thanks In Advance!

Paul

I thought I knew this by heart but better check my notes tomorrow. IIRC, with the Fidanza flywheel, it will only fit one way. Try putting the disc up against the flywheel and see which way it sits flat.

BeachBum provided the following:

Which seems like a pretty definitive answer.

Yep, the flat side of the disc definitely mates to the flywheel,  and the raised side mates to the pressure plate.

Here is a trusted source I use.  This mechanic has good detailed videos of work done on the 1ZZ as well as what to look for in-terms of diagnosing wear and faults.  His English is not the best but you can understand what he is getting at.

Hey Paul, I thought you mentioned the ring gear failing at 4 months? How many miles? It just looks…something doesn’t look right.
