NA mods on the 1zz – ready for the firing squad.

The more research I’m doing, the more I’m starting to like the Toyota ZR series of motor for our platform. aside from the mechanical compatibility, the motors all share a ton of components between each other and the components that aren’t shared are somewhat interchangeable. for instance, the 1zr and 2zr share the same blocks just a different stroke, and the primary difference between them and the 3zr is the deck height and stoke being even longer. now, between all three motors, they share the same bore, the same IM and Exhaust deck/mounts, and a slew of other similarities.  I’m looking at now picking up a 3zr, throwing in the 2zr-fxe pistons, and using that as a starting point. That’ll give me a 2.0lt with 13:1 CR..

the 3zr is also a swap done into the newer lotus Elise/exige, so it’s been done in a similar platform.
