Version 2 …. it’s 3/8″ steel plate , high strength low alloy a572 gr50 . They are sandblasted then yellow zinc plated . They didn’t turn out as yellow as I though , they turn different colors depending how you look at them . Anyway they are super stiff , makes the aluminum ones feel like twigs …. but they come in just under 18lbs. I have 30 of them ready to go ….. $125 shipped (lower 48) I’ll be using UPS 4 day so shipping won’t be as fast as usual and I have to haul them to town . They will come with 6 stainless flange bolts .

Gotta say, I have Phats Version 1 and Corky’s (also bought from Phats) and they both make the cars feel rock solid. I cannot tell the difference between the two braces from the driver’s seat. (I now have three Spyders.)

But this is BEAUTIFUL! I will go and see if my SS check is in! Way to go Phats!

I do like these, but I’m just curious, could you do the same with 5mm aluminum (or thicker)  – to save weight?

I actually priced some from 1/2″ aluminum and they would be approaching the $300 mark . I can cut steel but not aluminum so having someone do the cutting really inflates the cost and the tariffs don’t help at all . So I wanted to make some cost effective braces and this is what I came up with . Also just about anyone can weld steel and thought this might be a good start for someone wanting to make a midship brace , just add some arms .

I can’t imagine it being worth the cost of shipping but if you want to do all the leg work and I just have to drop it off … I’d consider . I pm all the info you should need , I will be back online this Friday .
