I decided to do some film negative conversion using a macro lens set up and then developing the photo.

This was my old motorcycle from the late 80s. This was taken in 1990.

I am honored. Its the second best form of flattery when someone uses it.

The first is when my pictures are lifted and someone elses name is attributed. It's bitter sweet.

There is this photo I have taken over 30 years ago that I had on the back of my mind to develop but never did even though I thought about it often over the years as something that I must eventually complete. I probably spent nearly all day removing dust and all kinds of blemishes. It made me realize that if I scanned it earlier it wouldn't have worked as well because the tech wasn't there to give it justice especially the healing tools that use AI to seamlessly blend out imperfections.

This is New Delhi in 1990 shot from an open window of my hotel  early morning.

When you and the car is ready.  In the mean time I will be practicing with film.  I am purchasing a EOS film camera that takes all of my EF lenses. I already have one but it's not going to cut it.

It appears that vintage film cameras from the 60s and 70s that were selling cheap have now gone up in price because of hipsters that are wearing them as lifestyle accessory. I am doing just the opposite and buying the most modern film camera before they were discontinued that looks like a digital SLR. I want the best metering available.

Why film. B/W film is superior to a digital image and the next best thing is a very expensive digital Monochrome camera. This is the best and cheapest way to get an edge. Also with color negatives there is an analog warmth you don't get with digital.  Digital on the other hand is cleaner but colder. Combining the two technologies I feel will result in photos that have a special look.

My new old camera was delivered over the weekend. It looks unremarkable for a film camera because it was still in production when digital SLRs were becoming popular so they look the same.

Lots to learn.

I finally got the film developed and scanned using my set up.

It's very interesting being entirely different than digital. Not a good or bad thing just different. There is an analog charm to the image but in many ways digital is cleaner and sharper.

Here is another. As I mentioned film is very different but also very color accurate. It doesn't like to be manipulated in post otherwise it turns into a digital like image.
