Hello. I am, relatively speaking, a noob. If someone could help me out with one or both of the following two questions I would really appreciate it.
First, the white connector shown in the pic has two wires going in and the other end is a strange looking piece of metal. I pulled it up from hanging by the block to get a pic.
Second, the next pic shows the engine compartment, passenger side, and a couple of threaded holes are shown. Any idea what should be there?

White thingy has the metal flange that is supposed to slip into a rubber slot for mounting. There should be one nearby.
I think it’s a noise filter (capacitor?) for maybe AM radio?

I second this. As the RPM's rise there will be an electrical noise that comes through the cars speakers. This alleviates that.
As for the holes, who knows. I dont recognize anything on that side.. there's lots of extra holes in the engine compartment.
