Good to know! Dealer wants $240.

You will be amazed at how much Spyder stuff I have thrown away just because it was taking up room. There are those that think their stock flimsy bracing and other junk is worth nearly the dealer cost. There were a few trying to sell their precats for close to dealer pricing. Demand is usually wants moves things and if its not selling you can either rent a storage unit or just trip on it in your garage.
I got a chance to test it out thanks to DeuceFatty on SC. I didn't drive the car (although I drove a modded Evo IX MR and a Type R swapped Integra and DAMN!) but I sat in it and played with the shifter. Here are my thoughts.
It's just as clicky as the TRD shifter. The throw is a little shorter forward and back. The knob height is however substantially higher. Shift effort remains about the same. Because of the single bend instead of the double bend, the knob is crooked and pointed at the passenger side. Looks bad IMO, but his car is missing a center console so it looked fine. However, I would not be able to stand this in my own car.
Strictly feel/performance wise: Is it better than the TRD shifter? No. Is it worse? No, it really isn't. They're very similar and trade off advantages and disadvantages but nothing too significant. If the knob was straight up and not crooked, I'd give it a glowing recommendation.

It kind of goes in line with what the Celica people thought which was a trade off. I think what kills it for me is having the shifter up high.
I love my B&M knock off precisely for the reasons why people hate it. For my extreme likes I felt the TRD shifter was exactly like stock.
The best shifter ever made looks wise was this all out highly machined looking thing. It looked so beautiful that it would be a crime to have a shifter boot but sadly the price was too high that no one bought it. Its ironic now that it was cheaper than what some are charging for the TRD.
i haven't actually driven the car on the road yet, will try to get it out on friday... but playing with the shifter in the car, i echo Halo's comments... shifts are nice, tight and firm... i don't mind the height so much since it gives more leverage to row the gears easier... the crooked neutral is absolutely driving me batty though... i will look out for a TRD... i guess for the price though it was about half the TRD so i can't complain much...
here is neutral
and here is 1st

Hmmm.... I think this is gonna bother me. Might try to bend mine.
Sorry guys, Thats one ugly looking shifter.
My B&M copy is known to be sit closer to the drivers side but you wouldn't noticed by looking at it. This one looks taller than stock which defeats one of the merits of having a short shifter.
Its also doesn't look like a banana in a cup.
Looks like I will have to just get one of the TRD ones off of yahoo japan auctions.
Did anyone see this shifter.

I like the fact that its 2.5" shorter than stock and has a 40% throw reduction.
In ALL seriousness, if someone wants an OEM shifter cage, mine can be had for shipping cost(it's been sitting in a box for years). It's taking up room I could use for other un-used stuff.

I heard a LONG time ago that it was a good one. It has been out of stock for 18 months, however, and I cannot get them to respond to phone or email.

I just did a little research. I think the TWM is a better copy of the B&M shifter. The B&M shifter is the most commonly knocked off shifter.
Its not worth the $200. I was actually trying to find the shifter that is metal cage with actual end stops on it for adjustment. That would be a cool shifter to have where you can eliminate all of the compliance from the nylon housing and where the bearings that rotate would do all of the sliding adding to a solid feel.
I think the reason why the B&M shifter has mixed results is due to the condition of the gates. I have driven a few Spyders with this shifter and some were very hard to engage the gears where others were nice and smooth.
The shifter cage has been claimed...no longer available.
