I don't get it

Total wire noob. I wired up the keyless entry temporarily by sticking exposed wire into the connectors on the car. The lights flash properly when I press the buttons but the doors don't lock or unlock. I am 99.9% certain I have connected to the right wires on the car. What am I missing?

Please don't tell me the three ground wires need to be tied together.

Really hard to help you without a schematic and the model of the keyless entry system you are trying to install.  Normally the ground wires need to be grounded at the terminal end of the control circuit.

It's for a 2000. The model I got is this https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HB5M5R2/ What does "grounded at the terminal end of the control circuit." mean?

Which diagram are you using?

Basically what you want to do is to have the remote apply a ground to the switch's grn/blk wire to unlock, or ground to the brn/wht wire to lock, which controls the power lock motors.

I saw that diagram online but have no idea how to read it -_- I am a complete wire noob.

Edit: I thought the lock/unlock wires are blue/white and blue/yellow?

Your remote needs to be powered and grounded correctly first, and then you need to attach the remote's switched ground to the cars power lock wires I listed previously that connect to the switch.

No those wires are to control the motor directly from the body module output and not through the inputs.

I don't know, pull the switch and look at the wire color code connected to the switch.  They should be the same colors I stated.

To power my remote, the red wire goes to 12v in the car yes? To ground it, the black, yellow and yellow/black go to one ground point yes? I don't know what remote's switched ground means 🙁

When I search for wiring location online, everywhere it says it's blue/white and blue/yellow. Kam also confirms it here  https://www.mr2-spyder.com/community/diy-how-to/diy-viper-211hv-keyless-entry-system/

I think by "remote's switched ground" you mean the white and white/black wires on my model. I think I did that correctly. I think I am doing the ground incorrectly by doing 3 separate grounds.

Switched ground means if you take your ohm meter and connect it between the switched output wire and ground it should read an open when not activated and a short when activated.

Install it anyway you want, but the lock/unlock switch in the car supplies a ground to the body module's input signal wire...

Maybe you should get some local help if you are unsure.

Yea, I should pay someone to install it. It's just frustrating that the lights work. I really appreciate your help.

this is actually a great suggestion... i forgot about that... if you pop the switch out of the dash and look behind there, you should see the wire colors for lock and unlock... in theory you can also tap the keyless entry into here as well...
