Do I Always Have To Buy My Repair/Replacement Parts From Mr. T.?

I used the red in my 96 Corolla. But I change coolant once a decade frankly. I don't drive enough to justify doing it any earlier. Toyota coolant lasts much longer than the green stuff. The MR2 I have no idea what was in it before, but it was pink, so I use Zerex Asian as I don't want to mix Toyota pink into something unknown. I've since done a drain and fill with Zerex and it hasn't discolored even a little.

The coolant was one of the items on my last shipment from norwalk.

00272-SLLC2    $14.36/gallon

I checked and the price I get is $21.12 plus shipping. How do I get the price that you quoted?

I know this is way overkill and that I will get FLAMED for doing it but I change coolant annually in all of my "special" vehicles (Spyder, S2000, etc). I will check out Toyota coolant. Any good places to buy?

I get the Toyota  red concentrate from Amazon.  Although they say you can use pink (backwards compatible) and it was factory fill in 2004 I prefer to stick to red because there is some anecdotal chatter that it’s a better match.

Thanks Dev!

That was a difficult question to figure out. Red or pink? I liked the idea of super long life and it matched up on the compatibility charts that are provided by online dealers. I figure it can’t be any riskier than using plain brake fluid in the SMT system, lol, or Nissan fluid in the power steering.

I had the correct number, unfortunately. Nothing wrong with being liked better!

This is crazy! Through my usual online dealer I get $13.94 per gallon for 00272-SLLC2. I pick it up at the dealer (Autonation Toyota in Austin, TX). Thanks for the reminder to go to my online dealer!

Just a member.

Toyota like other manufacturers do at times make backwards compatible fluids and filters to streamline their inventory but it is not always what is best for your old Toyota.  They keep the red concentrate around because the pink doesn’t work well with some of the older Toyota coolant components because of the formulation of the newer organic technology has been  known to cause issues with seals.  Sometimes the trade off is not worth it and the formulations that the car was tested with is usually the best option. I have also heard that the red although half the life of pink seems to be trouble free and known to last much longer than it’s recommended change interval after it was tested.

suoiruc,

Is there a way of bypassing Norwalk Toyota's parts order page ( https://www.norwalktoyota.com/order-parts/) and go directly to a parts lookup and pricing page?

Not saying I won't go through the extra step to save money...but just wondering?

Paul

Paul, that’s not where you go!

Try this:   parts.norwalktoyota.com

Maybe that’s what Desertwanderer did. I think that would be ordering through a brick and mortar place rather than online.

Unfortunately I got the same result. The address "parts.norwalktoyota.com" took me to the same place I went before. The price I got through the dealer I mentioned earlier was slightly less than the $14.36 anyway.

parts.norwalktoyota.com works for me. Found a front strut hat for only $75. https://parts.norwalktoyota.com/oem-parts/toyota-strut-mount-4860917051?c=Zz1mcm9udC1zdXNwZW5zaW9uJnM9c3VzcGVuc2lvbi1jb21wb25lbnRzJmw9MTAmbj1Bc3NlbWJsaWVzIFBhZ2UmYT10b3lvdGEmbz1tcjItc3B5ZGVyJnk9MjAwMCZ0PWJhc2UmZT0xLThsLWw0LWdhcw%3D%3D

Thanks for directing me to the right place.  I will give it a shot next time I need some new parts.
