I am interested in purchasing two 16x7 stock rear wheels.
Any reasonable condition -- my definition of reasonable is pretty tolerant as long as they are in sound working condition, but they must be true.
Prefer stock finish, but might consider refinished/painted.

Thanks, CSPIDY. That's just a bit above my target budget (really just looking for winter-wheels beaters), but the idea has lots of positive aspects, like IsStock, IsLikeNew, and IsNotExhorbitant.
Maybe they might give me a credit on my orphan pair of 15s... but my inner packrat might prevail against that.
Please, post that company if you can find it, but otherwise i am still searching.

I could not find the place I bought my wheels from, itβs been 3 years. I did find wheels at a site called wheel tires and more, 2003 16x7 wheels $150.28 and includes shipping. Parts Geek had them for $130.23 plus shipping.

Yep. I had a opportunity to save 11 hours of driving and get a pretty solid deal (less than cost of new steelies) on some Mini Cooper wheels locally, but I opted for the drive, related costs, and a commitment to some future elbow grease, just to restore some genuine Spyder wheels.
Once that idea of getting Spyder rims settled in (I like the OEM wheels, heavy or not), there was no going back, even if it adds a few pounds. Another nice aspect is that I am pretty confident that these wheels will be true. Who knows what condition those Cooper wheels could be in?
I also wasn't terribly excited by the way the BBS wheels looked on The Frog when I played around with the swap three months ago, and although the Cooper rims are more open-looking, I don't think they would have been much better. Both are too "busy"; I like variations on the clean, simple, radial spoke style.

Hey man, nice meeting you yesterday - sorry I couldn't really hang out but I'm glad the wheels are going to a good home.
The plasti-dip comes off pretty easily - I'm told that if you spray them with a "tire shine" product, the plasti-dip will pretty much just wipe right off.
Do post up some pictures when you get done.Β I think you'll find the wheels are actually in very good condition under the black coating.Β

I began stripping them this morning. Just using some citrus stuff I had laying around. Not sure how it will affect the factory paint, chemical is still working as I write, but the plasti- started peeling as soon as the brush hit it.
I will everyone know how its going. Maybe I will start a "How To..." thread, or, depending on how my plans work out, "How NOT To...". Found a very intriguing product called Sharkhide that I am considering using as a protective coating.
The wheels themselves are indeed in fine shape, better than The Frog's OE wheels, among which one rear wheel has more rash than.... ah, um, well, it's a lot of curb rash.
Staying optimistic, hoping I havent set myself up for two months of sanding and polishing. I want a nice result, and I ain't sceert to get dirty and tired, but I'm not going for $2,000 wheels here, either.
