Wow I just seen this yesterday and thought about posting it here.
What is wired is I posted the videos about Rush before Neil died. There was something that made me think of Rush I cant explain and I started re-listening to them during that month.
The vocalist with the glasses is wearing a 1st Cavalry patch, so I sent it to my son-in-law who is currently deployed in Syria with the 1st Cav out of Fort Hood.
No answer yet, they have shit for internet over there, only getting a sparse breakfast and 1 MRE per day.

I found this cover yesterday of one of my favorite Steely Dan tunes which is about time travel. It sounds like it was done in the style of Alannah Myles.

Be advised: Lyrics to the song in this youtube video contain profanity and make a disrespectful comment about the POTUS. If you would find any of that offensive, probably not ought to listen. Other than that, a friend sent this to me today and I found it funny as all get out.

I got an urge earlier today to fire up the reel to reel. Gave it a quick dusting, cleaned the heads, guides, etc, slapped on a mediocre tape and found everything to be in working order. I let the (not phenomenal) speakers and amp go a few years ago because I had to at the time, and the quickest solution I could come up with was my garage setup with a little lepai amp and mediocre bookshelf speakers.
Once ready I decided to take a chance on a reel in my collection that had no notes with it, or any identification other than "4". I have a few that lack information so I try to document what is on them when I have the chance.
Initially I got hit with 29 minutes of late 80s R&B.... The previous owner listened to anything and everything, and he recorded 90% of the tape I have. I almost put the reel away... A younger me probably did put it away and that is why I have been missing out.
Next was the last 4 tracks from The Kinks' live album "One for the Road" which was a welcome change.
After that, I was rewarded with all four sides of Grand Funk Railroad's live double album "Caught in the Act".
(Not the live version, but HD audio)
...and I haven't gotten past it yet. Listened to it twice today.
Thank you James. Your are missed. I am looking forward to the other treasures I still haven't uncovered in your collection.

Felt like hearing The Prodigy tonight:
Im starting to get a new appreciation for ZZ Top. Sure their commercial stuff is good and overplayed in the strip joints but Im starting to think their older stuff is better. Its deep soulful blues.
@dev, ZZ top has some great gems that were overlooked.
What I listen to is usually dependent on what I'm doing and my mood. In the garage is usually hard rock. On the farm, it's usually country and southern rock. New "country" isn't country unfortunately with this auto tuned mass manufactured "I'm getting drunk in the bed of my daddy's truck or on his tractor in the field and drive a pretty jacked up truck" BS. It's hard to find the good stuff anymore, the songs that have actual emotion to them or tell a story. It's the same things that make any music in any genre good. Anyway, here's a couple songs I've had in my list lately.
An interesting reminder.
