The prices on these borescopes have come down a lot. This one is useful because it has an articulating head and its own high resolution IPS screen.
I was changing the oil yesterday on the Lexus so I stuck it in the oil fill hole to see if my engine oil is keeping the motor clean and it is.
I then set out to diagnose a common issue with these UR series engines which is the valley plate leak. It is a leak at the heat exchanger under the intake manifold due to the sealant packing. It will have to be fixed at some point down the road with new packing.
Apart from that this is an invaluable tool. The last two that I had over the years was good but it wasn't great like this one. There are many sold on Amazon that are similar but this is the most reviewed and considered a solid inexpensive purchase.
I cant wait to use it to see inside a cylinder to see the amount of bore scoring and then articulate the head 180 degrees upwards to see the valves.
Uncle Mush do you have a photo of how it connects to the actual control board or whatever the batteries go to? I'm not entirely following.

Those individual large Rubbermaid trays work really well. They are large enough length wise to be useful almost like a divider.
I also bought this intermediate chest to organize sockets. This was really cheap compared to what is out there but ok quality.
I noticed that once it comes back in stock it sells out quick.

I have socket holders similar to these both in my garage toolbox and my car tool bags. Mine are open to be filled with whatever the user desires, and I'm good enough at picking out what I need by eye. In the tool bags the ratchet and maybe an adjustable wrench can stick to the back side as well.
Also, a 10in lobtex (lobster) adjustable wrench will be the last backup tool you will ever need. By far the most accurate and precisely made adjustable wrench I've ever owned, and I've been beating on it for months now backing up the impact. Hasn't slipped once. Japanese craft ftw. Saves a lot of time and energy not having half a dozen different backup wrenches spread all under the car somewhere.
