I went down the rabbit hole again. This time with pressure washers. Too much information overload with trying to choose a spray gun where there are people measuring trigger pull.
Everything has turned into my coffee hobby.
I am grateful for your sojourns down the rabbit hole. You do a great job at researching all kinds of things and I learn something each time you report out on what you have researched. 🙂

I am grateful to pass on what I learned so you and others don’t have to go through the pain of watching so many YouTube videos and the arrogance from people in these hobbies that are know it all that hate new people that buy cheap products. What I found in a lot of these hobbies are cheap Chinese substitute or knock offs that don’t perform very well, but our littered all over eBay and Amazon. Some work but a lot of it is plastic garbage.
I just about learned everything that we should know about pressure washers. I had to cut out a lot of the fat because it starts getting very expensive. Stay tuned.
The reason why I looked into pressure washers is mainly for my big Lexus because it’s so hard to clean using a bucket wash. I also need it to remove some mold accumulation on the side of my house, along with gutter cleaning, and a lot of other tasks where it is useful. The car washes in my area are getting very expensive so it’s time I figure a better way to save money.

haha. I know how that can happen. I'm going to see if I can convert a small hand sprayer into a foam cannon with a portable tire inflator. My Karcher pressure washer does a decent-ish job. I'm sure there are better and worse ones out there. But I may not notice much difference in my use. I mainly want the thing to last a long time. that's something that is a gamble with nearly any brand these days.

After doing a lot of research I bought a Karcher. Which model did you get?
From my research it was the entry level Karcher pressure K 1700 cube washer that was the best one for durability and actual rated output. Their higher end models are not much better and their new line is junk. It saved me a lot of money so I could put it towards the accessories to build a nice kit. I had no idea the hose, gun and fittings are very important part.
I was also surprised that Karcher has a 3 year replacement warranty where they will send you a new one if it fails.
@dev I bought this one:

It's fairly compact, but still has wheels. I was looking for the smallest frame for the compressor I could find and at a good price. That one seemed to tick the boxes. I've been happy with it so far. I've had it for a few years now.

Good to hear. I avoided the newer versions of the Karcher because they said their quality has gone down and the measurements are over inflated like most of the Amazon Chinese brands. If yours it still kicking it and satisfied its worth it.
The K1700 has been tested and is a bit of a unicorn when it comes to entry level pressure washers. I tried it out a few days ago and worked wonders because I wanted a way to quickly wash the car without having to use a wash mitt.
Because the car is mostly garaged kept I can go months before a wash. One of the reasons why I like white is when it gets road film it turns off white but does not look filthy like a darker colored car. I did a touch less washing experiment and it removed all of the road film and just a few imbedded spots remained. I think if I put a mitt to it then after that I can do touch less washes more often. I normally take the car to car washes because the bucket wash takes forever since the car is large and it has to be washed in sections so the soap does not dry out. One thing I did notice is even though nothing touched the car it seemed to be visibly cleaner than the automated wash as they tend to miss spots.
The good thing about white is its resiliency to visible micro marring and UV fading. I plan to try out a car wash shampoo that also applies a sealant so it picks up less dirt.

You should order your stuff from detailjuice.com. I know the owner personally and his products are ridiculously good. Also, he mainly sells concentrates so you mix it with water for your needs. he has soaps, detail sprays (both that have ceramic-acrylic protection in them) as well as full on coatings, polishes, etc. I use his stuff almost exclusively on all vehicles at my house as well as having his coating on all but the MR-S. I'll be coating that one myself this month after using his newly developed polish "Mr. Hyde" to bring some life back into the 22+ year old paint.

That's amazing! I have driven that track millions of times ... in video games. I imagine the corkscrew is a bit more intimidating IRL than sitting on a couch. haha.
Congrats!

Checked out the site. I might order their glass polish. For my black Spyder I have switched to one coat of sealant followed by carnauba wax as that gives the best look for black since sealants have no depth. Wax might not be the best for protection since its garaged kept its not an issue. I seen some cars with the ceramic coatings and I was not impressed epically when I was told how expensive it was from the detailer. I found that using Ultima Paint Guard plus had a better quality finish with more depth. It might be a better fit for problematic paints or those that have to be immaculate.
For the Lexus I plan to do a full polish correction on it this spring using my rotary polisher since it never had one. After that I will use one of the shampoo based sealants as it will add a coat every time clean and see how that goes. White paint is very easy to take care and as I was looking over the paint there was no micro marring on the finish especially from all of the car washes which could be due to the self healing paint which I thought was marketing hype.

His coatings do provide great depth and gloss. But it's not a cheap product to just try out if you already have a solution that you know you like.
For reference, here's his video where he does some paint correction and coating on my daughter's car that I just got her. The title is a little mislabeled since it's a 2023 and not a 2024. But all other stuff is good. haha.
Check out some of his other videos where he puts his coating on dark colored cars to see some of those results.

Thank you! Yeah it was definitely scary. A lot like a roller coaster, BIG drop. But it was a ton of fun, and these photos are a dream come true. I didn't push it 10/10ths because of fear (and walls) but I had a lot of fun and my time was much better than I expected it would be.

I recently decided to utilize the @snelbaard hardtop mounting brackets that came with my top. I didn't want to lose the ability to remove the top and enjoy the open air.... But I had an idea (danger!) that may allow the use of the hard mounted brackets and still allow the top to be removed without any tools. That idea is still in development, hardware is on the way. For now the top is hard mounted, just to know how much better the difference is. And boy is it different! I wouldn't say it's the single best suspension mod I've ever done, since there's no way to prove that.... But wow did it tighten the whole car up. Every brace and suspension component is working together in glorious harmony now. Lateral grip has vastly improved and I have to push way harder to kick the back end out. This is by far the most "put together" the car has ever felt and I'm loving every second of it.
I didn't realize just how heavy the OEM mounting hardware was... Put everything on a scale and long story short.... The hard mount brackets weigh ~7.2lbs less than the OEM hardware. That's a considerable weight savings, and from the highest points in the car.
If my idea for tool free hardtop removal works, I am hoping I can also remove the OEM soft top latches and the same mounting solution will work for it too. That would cut another 2-3lbs by removing the latches on the soft top. Assuming it works, I'll post a thread about it when it's done. Having the chassis stiffening from hard brackets + the ability to remove the top tool free would be the best of both worlds.
Took a coworker I've been mentoring for the past few years to lunch in the Toy yesterday. As soon as the on ramp to the highway cleared I let the 2zz sing through 2nd and 3rd. After settling into 6th his first words were: "Why does it just make you smile?"
"That... Is what we call permagrin." 😁

People like to be the biggest critic of the 2ZZ without actually understanding it. It is an engine that has plenty of character.
