For such a big company, it looks like SC is not immune to spam and is now getting some doozies. I saw earlier that now they're selling fake passports. 🤷♂️

Thats hilarious. From what I remember reading about the company is that in some cases they allow what looks like spamming by giving the keys to google advertising which they have no control of. They are willing to do whatever is necessary to turn a profit similar to any corporation that only looks at the quarterly bottom line before there is a fall off. This means selling your personal data which is what you post on the forum. They generally don't think ahead and their mission priorities are completely out of touch.
What I worry about more is a mass exodus of crap users that I was happy to get away from infiltrating this board and creating the same turmoil I see over there now. I think we have a decent group of folks here with good manners that understand that opinions are just opinions and its not something to make it personal.
It's not just SC, saw the similar crap on NC and the TSX forums. All run by verticalscope....

The midship question I think takes care of the bots and only brings in real enthusiast. We haven't had any spam activity since otherwise our numbers would have grown with fake accounts.
Something so simple works wonders and doesn't require a "team".
Also those so called moderators that want that prestigious entitlement really show their worth with being absent during times like this unless its to pop back in and pretend to be an authority. This is the failure of Spyderchat and it was around long before VS.
@dev That, and one of the many reasons I ended up (re)building this on a Wordpress backend instead of using the standard BB base. Unless we were to shell out the money for a fully featured forum software, there is no surefire way to prevent bots(even then, as we are seeing in SC and all of the other forums, it's not 100%). With Wordpress, it's literally throwing these bots for a loop. All of the links, connections, API's that would be used by a COTS(commercial off the shelf) forum product like MyBB, XenForo(SC's software), VBulletin, etc. make this more difficult without manually performing some sort of URL Fuzzing(Scanning for hidden, unknown URL's).
Our forum isn't perfect, but it has stood it's ground so far, and even though it's still small, It has a lot of growth potential and customization left.

After seeing what Spyderchat and what other forums have become Im far more content with simple forum UI with the least amount of gimmicks and clutter.
All we need is a clean interface where our seniors can read the text and post. Editing quickly and overall snappy performance to convey information is all we need.
You and LT have done the Spyder community a great service and the timing couldn't be more perfect. Over the last month I have seen our numbers grow and the activity has been increasing steadily but most of all organically.
Someone over there is deleted some of the conversations I was having concerning requests for brackets. I was having a few back and forth responses with getting shipping estimates for someone who lives in Australia and they were deleted. That person already paid so no problem but its troubling.
I guess you can say whatever agreement we had with them regarding owners of cars selling is out the window but I see it as lazy enforcement since they don't really care about the board as I have continued to respond to other requests that are still there.
@dev this reminds me, are you still selling your front bushing? I bought some from you a few years ago, along with your bushing removal "tool", but the bushings went with my old spyder. :/ I need to pick up a new set.
