So, part of my whole engine replacement project is also adding in a J&S Safeguard to the mix. Woot! ANyway, it's pretty big on that fancy 2-wire knock sensor. However, I have an APex-i PowerFC (which is based on the 2000-2001 ECU) and it expects a 1-wire knock sensor coming in on the wire harness. I know these were like the holy grail of tuning add-ons back in the day and some of the old guard had them on the other site.
My question to you all is... Have any of you installed one of these interceptors? And if so, how did you wire your knock sensor? Did you just tap the clear wire into the knock signal into the ECU and leave the other cable in the gray sleeve disconnected? Did you do that, but attach the black wire in the gray sleeve to ground (which ground? ECU harness or chassis?)? Did you install a second knock sensor somehow?
Inquiring minds want to know. haha.
