Has anyone tried hacking the frunk latch to make it electronic instead of mechanical? Seems like it will be rather difficult but very cool if possible.
. . . not that what I am about to write is helpful, but years ago either on SC or Spyderweb (?) someone did an electric solenoid latch on their engine lid. I (not being a very mechanical kind of guy) would guess it wouldn't be that different. The post, as I recall it in my mind, made it look like it wasn't that difficult a mod to make. I may have even printed out the post and saved it. I'll try to remember to look for it when I get back home. If I've got it, I'll scan it into a pdf and offer it up.
That's very helpful. The mechanism for the engine hatch and frunk latch should be very similar. So if you can do one, you can likely do the other.
It would be the same process as any other electronic trunk popper, which are common with aftermarket alarms. Father had one on his Miata, simple but strong solenoid.
