My “Team Dynamics” wheels use an odd center cap diameter. They’re 55mm. Last time the caps went ugly it was from the plastic coating on the metal trim getting all cloudy. So I bought a set from Team Dynamics for $12 each. Outrageous for a piece of plastic. Now, maybe 3 years later the NEW caps look like crap. The “gel” coating has gone all crazed and cloudy. I guess they couldn’t stand the UV and South Georgia heat. Checking the current price for Team Dynamics caps - the stupid things are $25 EACH!
So I got some cheap caps made for Jeep ($3.50 each from ebay) that were the wrong size. But wait. They’re just thermoplastic, and I have a heat gun. Heat the fingers and bend them to fit. I bought some cheap TRD stickers with a little color and shiny stuff to hide the “Jeep” logo. ($2.50 each from Amazon) Tada. Cheap wheel center caps.
I make Amateur Armrests - see the Commercial Forum. I also have SMT repair seals available.
Well done!
I've been in a similar situation with odd sizes, I ended up buying "pipe end caps" of a similar measurement. Similar cost. Probably spent more on decals to make them not plain than anything else.
Nice! I paid like $130 for my genuine Rays caps for my Gram Lights 🙁
